Breaking the Cycle of Homelessness
We know education is critical to breaking the cycle of homelessness. We've witnessed the result firsthand, watching young shelter residents thrive in their transition to college and beyond after participating in COS programs. Through partnerships with community schools, we target every stage of our children's academic development to help them build a foundation for an empowered adult life.
Targeting pre-school age children, we provide a behavioral and inclusion specialist at the Holy Family Day Home. This is a crucial stage in every child's life and the specialist helps identify and treat gaps in development that shelter children may present due to their predicament.
To help prevent our children from falling behind in school due to issues beyond their control, we provide a speech and language therapist at Mission Dolores Academy, a K-8 school in the Mission.
Whether it's tutoring, college application assistance, financial aid management or post-matriculation support, we offer a range of services that are flexible to the needs of individual children. Our nimble approach allows us to address the unique academic requirements of shelter residents as they arise.
